• This form is a construct for a post-colonial period neologism (started to show up in the 1950s, in texts written in the Latin script). So while it might be encountered in a modern Chinese text or Japanese text about "Vietnamese clothes", it was never attested in pre-colonial period Vietnamese texts (in either this spelling or the Latin script). It might also be found in works from certain modern Sinologist circles.
