Etymology edit

Sino-Korean word from 世界觀, from 世界 (world) + (view), an orthographic borrowing from Japanese 世界観 (sekaikan), which is a calque of German Weltanschauung.

  • Phonetic hangul: [(ː)/(ː)]
    • Though still prescribed in Standard Korean, most speakers in both Koreas no longer distinguish vowel length.
