Etymology

From -ban (“in”, case suffix) +‎ -i (adjective-forming suffix), an unusual and irregular form since in Hungarian no other suffix can be appended after the case ending.

   ‎nagy (“large”) + ‎-bani → ‎nagybani (“wholesale”)
