- Borrowed from Spanish Cetina, a habitational surname from a small village in Aragona.
- Borrowed from Serbo-Croatian Cetina, a habitational surname from a small village in Croatia or from the river which flows by it.
- Borrowed from Slovene Četina, a nickname for a hairy or bearded man, from a dialect form of ščetina (“bristle”).
