First attested as Dunesbarch in 1500. Compound of an unidentified first element (possibilities include does (mossy swamp), donk (sandy hill) or Duno (a personal name)) and berg (hill). Compare Doesburg, Donzel, Duisburg, Duisenburg and Duisdorf.
