Etymology 1 edit

From a shortening of dialectal Fickesfackes (nonsense, silly jokes), from fickfacken (to push back and forth, fuck around), a reduplication of ficken (to fuck). Alternatively a derivative of obsolete fatzen (to fool, make a fool of, mock), from Middle High German fatzen (to fool).
