From a shortening of dialectal Fickesfackes (“nonsense, silly jokes”), from fickfacken (“to push back and forth, fuck around”), a reduplication of ficken (“to fuck”). Alternatively a derivative of obsolete fatzen (“to fool, make a fool of, mock”), from Middle High German fatzen (“to fool”).
