Etymology
editFirst attested as Hoog Rietbroek in 1838-1857. Derived from a compound of rijt (“small natural watercourse”) and broek (“marsh, marshland”). The element hoog (“high, upper”) was added later to distinguish the settlement from Laagriebroek.
