Etymology edit
First attested as Leegh Rijbroeck in 1634. Derived from a compound of rijt (“small natural watercourse”) and broek (“marsh, marshland”). The element laag (“low, lower”) was added at a later date to distinguish the settlement from Hoogriebroek.
