Etymology edit

First attested as Cattenbergh in 1645. Compound of kat (“cat”) and berg (“hill, elevated place”). The precise interpretation of kat is unclear; it may refer to the arched shape of the hill (by analogy with a cat's back). Compare Hondsberg.
