editFirst attested as HOEVEN, thans in de wandeling meestal 's Konings-Hoeven genaamd in 1844. Compound of koning (“king”) and the plural form of hoeve (“farmstead”). The element koning refers to King William II of the Netherlands, who purchased several farms in the settlement and later ordered several new farmsteads to be built.
