Etymology edit
From Middle High German Lūsitze, from Proto-Slavic *Lužica, derived from *luža (“puddle, swamp”). Cognate with Upper Sorbian Łužica, Lower Sorbian Łužyca, Polish Łużyce, Czech Lužice.
