From Proto-Iranian *wazdHā́h (persistence, endurance), from Proto-Indo-Iranian *wazdʰHā́s, possibly from Proto-Indo-European *wn̥-s-dʰh₁-éh₂, from *wen-s- (to conquer, win) +‎ *dʰeh₁- (to do, place) +‎ *-éh₂ (deverbal noun suffix).[1]
