Proto-Celtic edit

Etymology edit

From Proto-Indo-European *gʷṓws. Because of the way root nouns decline in Celtic, the original PIE accusative *gʷṓm and genitive *gʷéws were made obsolete, which would have otherwise yielded Celtic *bām and *bous respectively. Cognate with Latin bōs.

Noun edit

*bāus f[1]

  1. cow

Masculine/feminine consonant stem
singular dual plural
