Proto-Italic

edit

Etymology

edit

From *ke (here) +‎ *dō (give, imperative).

Verb

edit

*kedō first-singular present indicative[1]

  1. (imperative) give here!

Conjugation

edit

In Latin, this occurs only as a fossilised expression, and has only imperative forms. Presumably, this reflects the older Proto-Italic situation as well, although it is conceivable that the verb had a full conjugation at some point.

Descendants

edit
  • Latin: cedo, cedite/cette
