This Proto-Mongolic entry contains reconstructed terms and roots. As such, the term(s) in this entry are not directly attested, but are hypothesized to have existed based on comparative evidence.

Highly problematic, Nugteren separates *kuxu- from *kuxuraï as *koa- and *kuuraï. However, East Yugur and Daur show the same vowel in both words and evidence for *o is ambiguous.

The other difficulty is that the proposed Turkic cognate has no *-g- nor *-p- that usually correspond to Mongolic long vowels, perhaps the original root is *ku- with monosyllabic lengthening which was later introduced to all forms

Etymology

Most likely related to Proto-Turkic *kurï- (“to dry”), see Turkish kuru.
