German edit

Etymology edit

From Schrott (scrap metal, junk) + Russian го́род (górod, town, city), loosely calquing Eisenhüttenstadt (literally Iron Works City) and rhyming with Nowgorod. The name alludes to the origins of the town as a socialist planned city and, probably, to its continuous decline.
