Last part from Old Norse hǫfn (port, harbor, haven), from Proto-Germanic *habanō, *habnō (harbour, haven), from Proto-Indo-European *kh₂póneh₂ or *kh₂pnéh₂, from the root *keh₂p- (to take, seize, grasp).
