@Wyang Hi Frank. I think the "obsolete" label for Mandarin for sense #1 is incorrect here, even if 说 is used more frequently. --Anatoli T. (обсудить/вклад) 21:25, 27 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

Umm can you think of a sentence in Mandarin in which 講 is used on its own as 'to say' rather than 'to tell'? I can't seem to think of such uses. Wyang (talk) 21:32, 27 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
@Wyang 讲几句话。你讲什么?"to say" would be used in English translations here. The first sense also includes "to speak". 你讲得很好啊。Pls correct me if I misunderstand something. --Anatoli T. (обсудить/вклад) 22:01, 27 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
讲几句话 is due to the combination of 讲 with 话 (讲话). 你讲什么 sounds non-native in Mandarin, and 讲 in 你讲得很好啊 implies some sort of explanation, lecturing or expression of one's ideas. I'm not sure; perhaps the wording should be changed... Wyang (talk) 01:28, 28 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
