Czech diminutive suffix
editThe etymology section of the English entry for háček has noted its eventual derivation from the Czech hák (“hook”) + -ek since August 2008; however, Dan Polansky doubts that "the formation of diminutives in Czech is best described as suffixing". Nonetheless, he gave this list of diminutives:
- kruh → kroužek
- pruh → proužek
- samec → sameček
- dům → domek, domeček
- strom → stromek, stromeček
- chlap → chlapec → chlapeček
- zvon → zvonec → zvoneček
- čepec → čepeček
- hrob → hrobeček
- kopec → kopeček
- dar → dárek → dáreček
- myslivec → mysliveček
- trávník → trávníček
- kůň → koník → koníček
- Vašek → Vašík → Vašíček
They may serve as a basis for someone to research the formation of Czech diminutives somewhen in the future.
