If I want to provide an example to a definition, it sets the number of the following definition as 1. Here's an example:

to breed (bred, bred)

  1. to make sure that one's young grow up to adulthood
  2. to keep animals and have them reproduce
  3. to yield or result in
Disaster breeds famine.
  1. to propagate or grow eg. he's a tulip breeder.

I fixed it. I just had to use #: instead of :. Webkid 14:00, 18 Jan 2004 (UTC)

adjective 
1.  describes the highest-ranking category of prize-winning animal of a specific breed in competitions and shows 
2.  in marketing, sales, and competitive analysis, describes a computer product that is the best available software, hardware, or system in its class

breeded edit

I heard this form used by a well-educated American speaker, who spoke standard English otherwise. Context was figurative: "Their success breeded arrogance." Just a slip of the tongue or is this somewhat common? 46.183.103.8 17:56, 23 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
