What is the third person singular form? Daressay or daresays? Ferike333 13:22, 7 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

I've never seen this used other than with the first person. Equinox 02:05, 29 September 2015 (UTC)Reply
Logically it should be "he daresay" because "dare" when used with simple infinitive does not take -s. But who knows. Language isn't always logical. And why this is spelt in one word rather than simply "I dare say" is beyond me to begin with. 90.186.170.193 20:24, 22 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

How is "dare say" an alternate form...

edit

...if this is a contraction? It feels as though alt forms should share a part of speech, but "dare say" doesn't contract anything. Equinox 02:04, 29 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

"That's what they told me at the office." - "I daresay, but they often get things wrong."
The press will make an issue out of that comment, I daresay, but the story will die the next day.
