Defend Aunt Pronunciation

edit

As a linguist and a law student I have noticed that several of my professors pronounce the last syllable as if it were the word "ant" with a nasal /a/ or /æ/. This audio file is labeled as U.S. and like every layperon and TV show pronounces it with a schwa. Any body know the story behind this?

I want to know why this happens too, it's hilarious to me. The above comment is an IP from 2011. This is 2023, and I've heard it many times. There's something special about this pronunciation. It's used by elite people & highly educated people. --Geographyinitiative (talk) 18:40, 15 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
