Looks to me like it's a Middle English variant of doucet < dulcet, and "dowcet mete" is attested in 1440 to mean sweetbread. But generally it looks like a synonym for "sweet". --Catsidhe (verba, facta) 20:20, 17 November 2014 (UTC)Reply
