In his autobiographic book w:In Memory Yet Green, Isaac Asimov uses “elevated” to mean some mode of public transport, presumably w:elevated railway. The context is w:Boston in 1949. It appears once in chapter 48 “Somerville”, section 1 (page 567 of edition Doubleday 1979), and I seem to remember it appears at least one other time, so it's probably not a mistake. This meaning of the word is not mentioned here nor in my Oxford dictionary. Is this meaning actual use by other people? – b_jonas 17:02, 7 May 2011 (UTC)
