- Added 2017 by unrenown editor together with the meaning “migrant camp”. Both seem a misunderstanding. Israel was perceived at this time, foreign to us now, a “villa in the jungle”, the latter being the surrounding Arab states, racistly understood as living in the desert in opposition to the Jewish urban civilization. Yet I am still convinced that jungle and desert mean what everywhere else in Israel and Texas, not like Ancient Greek ὄρος (óros, “a mountain”) could mean “a desert” in Egypt due to peculiar local topography.
- As for refugees, it was the name of a specific encampment in the surroundings of Calais; apparently there a play on the Jungle in the hobo camp meaning, which does exist for long, so it cannot separately mean a refugee camp specifically. Fay Freak (talk) 01:40, 14 September 2023 (UTC)
