Hi @-sche, can you take a look at this? The online Cree dictionary has mikisiw for eagle. — Ungoliant (falai) 17:52, 15 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

Cree has a lot of dialects, and a lot of orthographies have been used for them. This is an obsolete spelling of mikisiw. - -sche (discuss) 21:40, 15 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
Knisteneaux seems to be an obsolete term for the Cree, or possibly for a conflation of the Cree and Ojibwe. Chippewa is a synonym or type of Ojibwe; we treat it as Ojibwe (oj). The Ojibwe term for "eagle" is migizi. - -sche (discuss) 21:40, 19 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
I found several resources that this is the original and current spelling. especial for the KNISTENEAUX tribe.

Your link is to Alexander MacKenzie's old book, which is no evidence of this being a current spelling. "Knisteneaux" is an obsolete French version of Cree ("Christinaux" is another French version of the same word). - -sche (discuss) 20:37, 29 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
