The citations show that in the 1600s, noddle was often used in expressions meaning fool/foolish. Perhaps this is the origin of noodle meaning fool. The OED speculates this derivation. BenjaminBarrett12 (talk) 19:00, 15 March 2012 (UTC)

Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra (1617) The History of Don-Quichote: The First Parte[1], page 249 of 572: “And when he his noddle has prest, / Don-Quixote his teares did forth wrest...”
