word origins of onomatopoie
editI found this information at this website http://thesaurus.com/browse/onomatopoeia
"onomatopoeia 1577, from L.L., from Gk. onomatopoiia "the making of a name or word" (in imitation of a sound associated with the thing being named), from onomatopoios, from onoma (gen. onomatos) "word, name" (see name) + a derivative of poiein "compose, make" (see poet)."
I noticed the entry here stated Czech derivation.

- You need stronger glasses. You have confused the English word onomatopoeia with the Czech word onomatopoie. SemperBlotto (talk) 08:46, 29 April 2014 (UTC)
