Chambers 1908 says it can be a doll, which suits the etymology but seems hard to find in use. Equinox ◑ 19:44, 17 January 2019 (UTC)
Perhaps it could be cognate with west frisian pop, which means baby, seems more logical than stemming from a "doll" meaning. JM
