Not everyone can tell the difference. I remember a w:Russell Peters comedy sketch performed for a largely black audience beginning with Peters being called "sand nigger" and implying it was common. Soap (talk) 03:51, 10 February 2014 (UTC)

To cite this convincingly we would need to find use for Muslims who are not "of Middle Eastern or North African descent" (sense 1). Equinox ◑ 23:04, 20 July 2020 (UTC)

Or use for MENA Muslims where for one reason or another it is evident that the term isn't racially or ethnically motivated. Since the term obviously alludes to deserts, I think that's very unlikely.__Gamren (talk) 23:55, 20 July 2020 (UTC)
