Talk:weight

From the definition: (physics) Mass (net weight, atomic weight, molecular weight, troy weight, carat weight, etc.).

In physics, weight means mass? That's what this implies... Shouldn't it be changed (I can't think of a better way to put it, tough)

Fatness, obesity, e.g. putting on weight

H. G. Wells makes the distinction in his excellent short story The Truth About Pyecraft (a fat man uses an occult "weight loss" remedy and finds himself still big but floating in defiance of gravity): "You committed the sin of euphuism. Vowel

If I'm not mistaken, this should be "wight" /wait/ in modern English. Was the vowel influenced by the verb "weigh" or what happened? Please add the explanation to the etymology section, too. 92.218.236.219 21:52, 21 February 2023 (UTC)
