• Remove redlinks from also
• Remove redundant |head= parameters from headword templates:
• |head=pagename and |head=pagename when pagename contains no spaces or hyphens
• |head=word1 word2 word3 when headword is word1 word2 word3
• Remove l when not linking to a different language
• Remove redundant |pl=/|2= parameters in en-noun, es-noun, it-noun, and pt-noun
@Ultimateria This is done for en-noun as a side effect of the changes I made to it to make the default plural algorithm smarter; see WT:BP. Benwing2 (talk) 03:45, 22 September 2020 (UTC)
• Merge instances of lb separated only by a space and/or comma
• Merge instances of IPA separated only by a space and/or comma
• Convert instances of l with only |1= and |2= found in col templates to plaintext
• Convert -nym headers to -nym templates in sections with one definition line (note: started by JeffDoozan)
• Templatize simple usexes; diff
• Remove spaces from the end of (mainly Maori) translations
• Implement sv-noun with or without gender; diff
• Cleanup Telugu derived-suffixed etymologies; diff
• Implement sv-adj based on declension template used:
@Ultimateria I am confused about what this is asking; sv-adj is a headword template, but the others are declension templates. Benwing2 (talk) 03:47, 22 September 2020 (UTC)
@Benwing2: In entries using head instead of sv-adj but have a (single) declension table in the section. Ultimateria (talk) 03:54, 22 September 2020 (UTC)
• Change |adv= in lt-adv to |head=
• Change ==External links=== to ==Further reading===
• Remove redundant manual inputs (|1=) in es-IPA, it-IPA, and fr-IPA
• Implement auto cat where it can be used but isn't; diff

CFI issues edit

• Attestation:
• "'Attested' means verified through clearly widespread use, or..."
• What is "clearly widespread"?
• LDLs:
• "the community of editors for that language should maintain a list of materials deemed appropriate as the only sources for entries based on a single mention,"
• This should be specified as belonging at the language's About page. This does not happen in practice.
• "a box explaining that a low number of citations were used should be included on the entry page (such as by using the LDL template)"
• This does not happen in practice. It would probably apply to 100,000+ entries.
• Idiomaticity:
• "In rare cases, a phrase that is arguably unidiomatic may be included by the consensus of the community, based on the determination of editors that inclusion of the term is likely to be useful to readers."
• What does this look like in practice? Are there examples? Or is it just anything that passes RFV, which isn't rare?
• Misspellings:
• Nothing establishing how frequent a misspelling has to be for inclusion.
• Fictional universes:
• "With respect to names of persons or places from fictional universes, they shall not be included unless they are used out of context in an attributive sense."
• Subjective and unsatisfying, IMO. Opens the door for millions of encyclopedic pages.
• Are gods and folk characters treated differently from e.g. Star Wars characters?
• Are the age and medium of the fictional work a factor?
• Many users bring up the issue of whether a name is "commonly translated" in other languages. Should this be a factor?
• Wiktionary is not an encyclopedia:
• "Wiktionary articles are about words, not about people or places. Articles about the specific places and people belong in Wikipedia."
• We have many articles about places. We should specify that we only include lexicographical information such as a basic definition, pronunciation, inflection, translations, etymologies, related terms, etc. In-depth information should only be included when relevant to the etymology, or in some cases the definition, e.g. historical regions that have covered different areas over time.
• We have many articles about individuals. See below.
• Genealogical content:
• Extremely similar to "Names of specific entities" just below.
• "Wiktionary articles on family names, for example, are not intended to be about the people who share the family name."
• Names of specific entities:
• "No individual person should be listed as a sense in any entry whose page title includes both a given name or diminutive and a family name or patronymic."
• Company names:
• "the use of the company name other than its use as a trademark (i.e., a use as a common word or family name) has to be attested"
• CFI/Fictional Universes
• "With respect to names of persons or places from fictional universes, they shall not be included unless they are used out of context in an attributive sense,"
• Subjective and unsatisfying, as above.
• The Vulcan usex isn't illustrative whatsoever and should be removed.
