how's edit

Who uses this alternative for hows? Can you find examples meeting WT:CFI (i.e. from books etc. rather than Web pages)? Equinox 12:51, 16 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Yes, Google Books has tons[1] of examples. It's so common I never imagined that would be an issue. 62.147.27.203 12:54, 16 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. I see. Must be one of those strange apostrophes like "(deprecated template usage) do's and don'ts". Equinox 13:11, 16 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
Or like "to dot the i's and to cross the t's". Now fully booksourced at why's and how's. To be honest, I don't know statistically which one is supposed to be more prevalent. And maybe some would consider it incorrect (like "1960's" is incorrect vs. "1960s") because the apostrophe isn't needed to disambiguate here (as it is for "i's" vs. "is"). But it seems in common use enough to be referenced. And usage notes could be added about its perceived correcteness if needed. 62.147.27.203 13:19, 16 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
