Maybe the IPA was right and it's the X-SAMPA that was wrong? —CodeCat 20:18, 1 February 2013 (UTC)

I listened to some Canadians who wondered wether pronouncing lever [liːvɚ] was a "Canadian thing" and I'm pretty sure they pronounced it with a long i. As the British pronunciation also shows a long i I'm inclined to think the [ː] was simply forgotten. If you want to analyze it, I can give you a link to the recording I listened to ;).
