(linguistics, colloquial) Synonym of constructed language (“a human language such as Esperanto, Klingon, Quenya, or Volapük that has been consciously devised by an individual or a small group, as opposed to having naturally evolved as part of a culture like a natural language”) conlang v (intransitive) To create a conlang (constructed language). The Polish ophthalmologist and linguist L. L. Zamenhof, who invented the conlang Esperanto, died on this day in 1917.
