Etymology edit

From Proto-Tocharian *āntäp(ä)i, from Proto-Indo-European *h₂n̥tbʰóy(h₁) (both, neuter dual); cognate with Tocharian A āmpi and Latin ambō. Related to Proto-Indo-European *h₂m̥bʰi, both considered to be derived by suffixation from Proto-Indo-European *h₂ent- (face, front).
