From Proto-Albanian *aśt-, from Proto-Indo-European *h₂ost(h₂-), from root *h₂st(h₂-) (bone); *h₃ésth₁. Cognate to Sanskrit अस्थि (ásthi-, bone), Ancient Greek ὀστέον (ostéon), Armenian ոսկոր (oskor).[1]
