Short for back announcement.

Noun

edit

back anno (plural back annos)

  1. (radio, informal) An announcement at the end of a broadcast item and relating back to that item.
    • 2002, Pete Wilby, The Radio Handbook, page 136:
Back annos may take a very simple form such as a name check of the last voice heard on the package and stations have been known to ban their use on the basis that anything in the radio text that looks back at what has been said is redundant communication.
    • 2013, Guy Starkey, Radio in Context, page 131:
The 'landing' is the back anno, which is the follow-up to the item, and which leads the listeners smoothly from the item and back into the rest of the programme ready for some more signposting, an ident or some music, perhaps, []
