Etymology

Hypothesized to be derived from Latin *pastica, from pastus,[1][2] or y from *bjershkë, a derivative of bie (to fall) (see pjeshkë < *pjershkë < Latin persica). The term could be the source or related to the oronym Beskidy.[3]
