Learned borrowing from Latin cacoēthes, from Ancient Greek κακόηθες (kakóēthes), neuter singular of κακοήθης (kakoḗthēs, ill-disposed), from κακός (kakós, bad) + ἦθος (êthos, disposition, nature).
