From Latin grātia, as used in the phrase grātiās agō (“to thank; to express thanks”). Compare Italian grazie, Spanish gracias.

Usage notes

De gra is considered the most official and neutral form of "thank you" in the Ladin of Gherdëina. However, in the spoken language, the German danke is most commonly used.
