From employment + tribunal. Coined by the Parliament of the United Kingdom in 1998 in the Employment Rights (Dispute Resolution) Act 1998; replacing the former term industrial tribunal.[note 1]

- (law, England and Wales) A tribunal with jurisdiction to hear disputes related to employment (such as unfair dismissal); the mandatory court of first instance in such claims.
