Usage notes edit
- The interrogative clitic -kö does not, in this case, turn the sentence into a question. It serves as an intensifier and it can be omitted without changing the essential meaning of the statement:
- Ei ole epäilystäkään, että hän ei läpäisisi koetta.
- There is no doubt that he will pass the examination.
- En voi kiistää, ettei vähän jännittäisi.
- I cannot deny that I'm slightly nervous.
- Ei mene päivääkään, ettei hän valittaisi jostakin.
- Not a day passes that he does not complain about something.

- Used to start a rhetorical question that expresses amazement about or attempt to deny something previously said.
- Etteikö Suomi voittaisi keihäsmitalia?
- Why, what do you mean, is Finland not going to win a medal in javelin?

- What? Is it not alloewed to sing here?
