Etymology edit

Borrowed from Late Latin ēvāsiōnem (literally a going out, an escaping) (in Medieval Latin, "evasion"; genitive singular ēvāsiōnis), from Latin ēvāsus, perfect passive participle of ēvādō (to escape, to go out), from ē- (out) + vādō (to go; to walk), from Proto-Indo-European *weh₂dʰ- (to go). Cognate with English wade.
