"För att" often occurs in other constructions as well, often with "för" corresponding to "of." For example, "Han anklagades för att ha stulit pengar" means "He was accused of having stolen money," and "Vi stannade hemma istället för att gå på bio" means "We stayed home instead of going to the cinema."
