Swedish edit

Etymology edit

fara +‎ illa

Verb edit

fara illa (present far illa, preterite for illa, supine farit illa, imperative far illa)

  1. to be in a harmful situation (often due to external factors)
    barn som farit illa
    maltreated children (for example)

Usage notes edit

Intuitively closer to "end up" than "be," but "Han far illa" means ongoing harm, hence the translation.
