Tagalog edit

Etymology edit

Theorized as the root form of panaginip, as attested in Vocabulario de lengua tagala (1613) and Vocabulario de la lengua tagala (1860), but etymological evidence suggests a different root, *inip from Proto-Austronesian *qinəp (lie down to sleep), for panaginip.

Pronunciation edit

  • IPA(key): /ˈɡinip/, [ˈɡi.nɪp]
  • Hyphenation: gi‧nip

Noun edit

ginip (Baybayin spelling ᜄᜒᜈᜒᜉ᜔) (obsolete)

  1. root related to dreaming as in panaginip
