Variant of dialectal glep, from Proto-Albanian *glēpa, from Proto-Indo-European *gʷl̥H-bʰo-, derivative of *gʷelH- (to prick, stick) (compare Lithuanian geluonìs (sting), Greek βελόνα (velóna, needle)).[1]
