From Ancient Greek αἱμο-(haimo-, blood) +‎ διάλυσις(diálusis, separation, dissolution), from διαλύω(dialúō, I separate), from διά(diá, through) +‎ λύω(lúō, I loose). Synchronically, hemo- +‎ dialysis.
