Etymology edit
From scientific Latin hypothalamus, from Ancient Greek ὑπο- (hupo-), combining form of ὑπό (hupó, “under”) + Ancient Greek θάλαμος (thálamos, “an inner chamber, a bedroom, a bed”).[1]
